Roger Federer Defeats Fernando Verdasco in Third Round of US Open 2012


Roger Federer eases past Fernando Verdasco in the third round of US Open.Top-seeded Federer faced only a single break point in his 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over No. 25 Fernando Verdasco and won it with the longest point of the match -- a 20-stroke rally he captured by moving Verdasco back and forth on the baseline until the Spaniard finally sprayed a forehand wide.

With this victory he will be facing American Mardy Fish in the fourth round, unfortunately, the American 23rd seed withdraw upon the advice of his doctors few hours before their match. The withdrawal gave Federer a free ticket to the quarterfinals where he will be facing Tomas Berdych.
